How Long Does University of Nottingham & Nottingham Trent Take To Give Offers?

robin-hood-g465e1b142_1920

So you’ve applied to go to university in Nottingham. What happens now? How long will it be before the university gets back to you with an offer?

In this post we’ll explore the application process for Nottingham’s two universities: The University of Nottingham, and Nottingham Trent University.

University of Nottingham – Application Process

If you apply through UCAS, you have to apply by the January before the September term start date “to ensure equal consideration for your course.” The final deadline for applications is usually the end of June before the September term starts. So the deadline for 2022 applications is 30 June.

If you miss this deadline, you can still apply to start in the same year through Clearing.

Please note that there are different deadlines for medicine and veterinary courses.

Once you’ve applied, The University will either:

  • Make a decision on whether to accept your application.
  • Invite you to an interview.
  • Contact you, if your fee situation’s unclear.

So How Long Does The University of Nottingham Take to Give Offers?

Unfortunately, there’s no simple answer to this question. It will depend on the course and the school.

For example, the School of Natural Sciences says that they make offers between October and February. The timeframe’s likely to be similar for other schools, but check your school’s website for information specific to your course.

The University of Nottingham’s website says that UCAS will contact you with the results of your application. They also imply that they’ll get in touch themselves, if it’s taking a while for them to make a decision.

If you’ve applied to the University of Nottingham and want an update on your application, you can either:

  • Access the UCAS Track website, to find out how your application is processing.
  • Log into the MyNottingham student portal, where you may be able to find additional information. The University should have sent you a login for this portal when you applied.

Nottingham Trent University – Application Process

If you’re applying through UCAS, you have until the end of January to apply for a place at Nottingham Trent University. But if you miss this deadline, you can still make a late application, or you can use the UCAS Extra service.

So how long does Nottingham Trent University take to make an offer?

It will depend on the school and the course. But the NTU website implies that they aim to respond to all offers by the end of May. The specific date may vary from year to year. In 2022, for example, it’s 19 May.

So if you’ve applied to study at NTU and you’ve not heard anything back yet, be patient! You should know either way by the end of May.

In the meantime, you can access the UCAS Track website, to find out how your application is processing.

Does Nottingham Give Out Unconditional Offers?

Both the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University give out unconditional offers.

They give these out when you’ve already satisfied the entry criteria.

So unconditional offers are usually reserved for high-performing students. But don’t feel bad if you don’t get an unconditional offer! This might just mean that demand for the course has been so high that the university needs to screen a bit more.

Do Nottingham University Give Lower Offers?

This is another question with no simple answer. Both The University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University may reduce the entry requirements for certain courses – usually during the Clearing process.

However, it all depends on the school and the specific course. For example, it’s very unlikely that certain high-demand courses will give lower offers, as the university will probably have too many candidates to consider in the first place!

Got an Offer? Next Step – Accommodation!

Have you got an offer from one of Nottingham’s universities?

First, congratulations!

Your next step is to celebrate.

After that, you need to commit to getting the grades you need for your course.
